The PCB series of themes are ‘skins’ for custom ROMs that supported the CyanogenMod Theme Engine. If you remember the name ‘CyanogenMod’, then you know what I am talking about, but for those who don’t, CyanogenMod was a prolific custom Android ROM that you could flash on to supported devices, namely phones and tablets. Custom ROMs allowed you much more control over your device, often enabling root access, which could have a detrimental effect if you weren’t careful.

I worked on the PCB style for many years, originally starting on the HTC Sense platform by giving it a distinct look, while maintaining the same overall design as the Sense UI. My goal was to keep it simple and clean, with a focus on fine PCB trace details in various colorways. Over time, I expanded to other ROMs that supported the Theme Engine, such as CyanogenMod, ParanoidAndroid, AOKP, and others. In fact, I eventually became an member of AOKP, building and maintaining their official website.

This version of the PCB theme that you’re looking at is one of the latest releases which I published on the Google Play Store. It was a great learning experience, not only for image editing and custom Android styling, but also for the developer experience of the Play Store.

I even built a dedicated PCB mini-site where I hosted all flavours of the themes I made, and you can check it out as I currently still host an archived version. You may want to take a look at the PCB TSF Shell Themes I made as well!
